Recently, a new writing project took shape; as of Friday I have a tentative title, framework, and many burgeoning ideas for a new book! In fact, even when I’m not sitting at my computer writing, I can’t stop thinking about it.
I know I’m fortunate to have found something I’m passionate about doing. After all, passion motivates, provides purpose, and inspires tenacity.
How might we discover and cultivate the passions of our students? How might this time of distance learning provide an opportunity for students to read, write, and explore a passion of their choosing?
In Oprah’s words: “Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”
Cultivate passion. The time is now.
The on-line experience of learning is something. Wonder how it will shape the learning of the future. And the students of the future.
True. I don’t think things will ever quite return to the way they were!
I just had a student email me yesterday to tell me that her and another student from class are writing a story together! They were so proud of it and are excited to share it when it is done. I loved hearing this and this shows how they are tapping into their passion without any prompts or direction.
Amazing! I love that they are doing it together, too!
After reading the first paragraph of this post I felt so much joy and excitement. Just hearing or reading about the passion of others brings about inspiration and introspection!
Finding things that you are passionate about and going for it is so good for the soul. Encouraging students to share what brings them joy, especially during uncertain times, keeps them engaged, motivated and most importantly, connected.
Good for the soul, yes!
My focus has been on gratitude and connection. This is hopefully fostering something within the students who are engaged.
Thanks for continuing your messages 🙂
What a timely focus, Colleen. So important for our students. For all of us actually!
