Chaos or Calm

Teaching on a regular day is hard enough. Teaching amid chaos–whatever that looks like on a given day–is exhausting. And learning amid chaos? Near impossible.

L.R. Knost has said, “When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it’s our job to share our calm, not join their chaos.”

It’s not just little people who are sometimes overwhelmed by big emotions. Big people too, reminding me of a scene from a recent Ted Lasso episode. Ted sits quietly next to Alice in a brilliant display of co-regulation. Watch the 4 minute clip below or read here for a psychologist’s perspective on this scene.
