Becoming Naomi Leon
Although published in 2005, I only recently encountered this book. From the author of Esperanza Rising, this is another worthy read. Immediately, I was drawn to eleven-year-old Naomi Outlaw who lives with her great-grandmother and younger brother. The unexpected return of her mother sends her searching for her voice and her roots. This is truly an inspiring story.
